November 12, 2026
Main Sequence is scheduled to launch into Steam Early Access for Windows PC on this date. The developer announced it on October 1, 2026, and the Steam store displays the same date.
This is not a 1.0 release. The developer plans an Early Access period of roughly one to two years, with the final length depending on when the game is complete and well-rounded. The store description explicitly warns that the game will change during development.
SteamDB lists a store timestamp of 16:00 UTC. The publisher has not confirmed the exact unlock hour. Your local equivalent is calculated in your browser.
When does it unlock?
The publisher has not announced an exact unlock hour. SteamDB records a store timestamp of 16:00 UTC on November 12, 2026. That is a useful planning reference, not an official launch promise.
Use the launch timer to see that timestamp converted into your local time and a table of common time zones. The countdown on this page uses the same estimate.
Until the publisher posts a launch-time update, 16:00 UTC is only a storefront listing. Steam unlock times can differ from the listed store date.
Price: not announced
There is no official Main Sequence price. The October 1 release-date announcement said more information, including price and launch time, would follow. Third-party estimates are not confirmation.
The developer has confirmed that the eventual 1.0 price will be adjusted to reflect the finished game and expanded content. That means the Early Access price and the final price may differ. The store page does not currently list a price because the game is not yet available.
| Item | Status | Detail |
|---|---|---|
| Early Access price | Not announced | No USD, EUR or regional price has been published. |
| Deluxe / ultimate edition | Not announced | No paid edition comparison exists in official material. |
| 1.0 price | Will change | Expected to be adjusted based on the finished game. |
| Demo | Free | Separate free demo on Steam. |
Platforms: Windows PC at launch
The official launch announcement names Steam Early Access. Steam lists Windows as the only supported operating system. No PlayStation, Xbox, Switch or macOS release has been announced, and we found no public statement about Steam Deck verification.
| Platform / service | Status | What we know |
|---|---|---|
| Steam (Windows) | Official | Named in the Early Access launch announcement and store page. |
| Epic Games Store | Listing exists | A store page exists, but the October launch announcement specifically names Steam. We are not treating Epic as the confirmed launch storefront. |
| Consoles | Not announced | No PS5, Xbox Series or Switch version has been announced. |
| macOS / Linux | Not announced | Only Windows is listed on Steam. |
| Xbox Game Pass | Not announced | We found no Game Pass announcement. |
| Controller support | Planned | The developer said in 2025 that controller support was planned for Early Access launch. That is a plan, not a confirmation of every controller layout. |
System requirements
Steam currently publishes a minimum specification only. The game is still in development, so treat these numbers as a baseline rather than a performance benchmark.
| Component | Minimum |
|---|---|
| Operating system | Windows 10 64-bit |
| Processor | Intel Core i5-8400 or equivalent |
| Memory | 8 GB RAM |
| Graphics | NVIDIA GTX 1050 or AMD RX 460 |
| DirectX | Version 12 |
| Storage | 5 GB available space |
Steam currently publishes only the minimum specification. No separate recommended tier is listed there. The separate Steam demo lists the same minimum. We have not benchmarked a retail build because it is not yet available to the public.
What the requirements mean in practice
- 8 GB RAM: sufficient for the listed minimum. If you often play factory games with browser tabs or voice chat open, leaving more memory headroom is sensible, but do not treat that as an official requirement.
- GTX 1050 / RX 460 class: an entry-level dedicated GPU baseline. Integrated graphics are not listed.
- 5 GB storage: the listed install footprint. Patches and saves can add to this over time.
- DirectX 12: the game calls for Windows 10 64-bit or newer with DX12 support.
What Early Access means for this game
The developer’s Early Access statement says the core mechanics and progression are fully playable at launch: ship and station design, trading with NPCs, fighting alien enemies, factories and automation. The current store estimate is around 40 hours of content.
The 1.0 roadmap is not a dated checklist. The developer wants more building options, customization, quality-of-life features, factions, ship and station modules, production lines and exploration. We will not publish a fake roadmap with dates that have not been committed.
Demo save transfer
No official statement confirms that demo saves or builds will transfer to Early Access. If continuity matters, plan for a fresh start and preserve blueprints rather than assuming the demo state will carry over. This is still an unresolved question in the community.
Exact content at launch
The September 2026 playtest included later sectors, Cobalt and Graphite, a Trading Outpost and the Relic Destroyer, but playtest content is not a guarantee of launch content. The demo is a separate, limited slice. We label features as “demo” or “playtest” where the difference matters.
Common questions
Short answers, with the verified detail kept in the sections above.
When does Main Sequence release?
Main Sequence is scheduled to enter Steam Early Access on November 12, 2026. The developer announced the date on October 1, 2026 and Steam displays the same date.
Has the exact launch time been announced?
Not by the developer. SteamDB lists a store release time of 16:00 UTC on November 12, 2026, but that is an unofficial listing. Our countdown labels it as an estimate until the publisher confirms an unlock hour.
How much will Main Sequence cost?
No price has been announced. The developer said price and launch-time details would follow the release-date announcement. We will not treat third-party estimates as confirmed.
Which platforms is Main Sequence on?
The confirmed launch target is Windows PC through Steam Early Access. An Epic Games Store listing exists, but the official launch announcement specifically names Steam. No PlayStation, Xbox or other console version has been announced.
Will the price change after Early Access?
The developer expects the 1.0 price to be adjusted to reflect the finished game and expanded content. The Early Access price has not yet been revealed.
Does Main Sequence support co-op?
Yes. The Steam page lists online co-op and LAN co-op, and the October 19, 2026 demo update added co-op multiplayer to the demo. Each player captains their own ship. A maximum player count has not been publicly confirmed.
Is Main Sequence on Xbox Game Pass?
We found no Xbox Game Pass announcement. The confirmed launch plan is Windows PC via Steam Early Access.
Does Main Sequence support controllers?
The developer said in September 2025 that controller support was planned for the Early Access launch. That is a plan rather than proof that every controller configuration will work in the current demo. HOTAS support has not been confirmed.
